抄録: This is a preliminary report on an important manuscript preserved at the Saltanati Library in Tehran. The author has examined a photocopy of the manuscript bestowed by the Library in January 1998. The report seeks to supplement and rectify the brief reports written by Z.V. Togan and B. Atabay beforehand. 1. The manuscript consists of Babur's five works. They are Mubayyin, 'Arud risalasi, Babur-nama, Validiya risalasi and a prosodical work which might be called Five hundred and four rhythms. Contrary to Togan's early report, the manuscript does not contain Divan and hence is not the Kulliyat (complete works) of Babur. The author proposes to call it the Collected works of Babur. 2. Despite the fact that the Mubayyin has lost many folios, it is still useful for making a revised edition which is not yet available. 3. The 'Arud risalasi is incomplete and contains only around three-fifths of the original text. Nevertheless, it is the second manuscript ever known and thus useful for making a critical edition. 4. The Five hundred and four rhythms is a prosodical work. Babur wrote in the Babur-nama that he composed such a work. However, it has been believed that the work had been lost. Therefore, the author reports the discovery of this almost complete Persian text here. Babur scans (taqti) his own bayt (i.e. a line) in 498 ways in this work. The manuscript seems to have lost the remaining six ways. 5. The Bahur-nama is severely incomplete. For example, its chapter on Kabul contains merely the events of the year of 925. However, it is of high quality and can be used to supplement the critical edition of the Babur-nama published by the author in 1995 to a small extent. 6. Although the Validiya risalasi is almost complete, it is not so valuable since two critical editions of this work have already been available. 7. The manuscript was created in India between 1589 and 1613. The Catalogue of the Library written by B. Atabay dates the manuscript 935 (i.e. 1528-1529), but is found to be wrong. The year of 935 is actually the completion date of the Validiya risalasi placed at the end of the manuscript. 8. The manuscript has some irregular and missing pages that seem to have occurred when it was bound. This defect notwithstanding, the manuscript is of great value as it was created in the early times. Thus, publication of its facsimile text is desirable.
