抄録: Coffee and North-South Problem which I published in 2004, has incorporated the framework to analyze food systems introduced by Niiyama, which emphasizes a focus on clarification of vertical price adjustment systems (food chains structure from production to consumption) through analyses of 1) vertical integrations relevant to ownership of firms, 2) forms of transaction and 3) systems for pricing. On the other hand in Europe and the United States, the framework to analyze global value chains (GVC) has been recently incorporated by several critical studies on globalization of the production, distribution and corporate activity. This paper is intended to rearrange by borrowing concept of the 'value chain', 'node', 'governance structure' and 'upgrading' in GVC analysis, vertical price adjustment system for the Tanzanian coffee which was clarified in my latest book. The findings of this consideration about advantages of GVC analysis are as follows. I) It has certain ability to find out governance or control actors in value chains, which leads to discussions on upgrading for controlled actors of lower grade (small farmers in case of primary commodities produced in developing countries). 2) For the purpose mentioned above, the importance of capital inputs analysis is confirn1ed.
