This article shows bacteriological studies of 213 strains isolated from 171 patients with infections of urinary tract in our clinic from January, 1964 to June, 1965. All patients were suffering from chronic or recurrent infection associated with other urogenital diseases, and the majority of cases had received some kind of antibacterial agents in the past. Among the 213 urine specimens, Escherichia coli was isolated in 48(22.5 %), Staphylococci in 44 (20.7 %), Pseudomonas in 35 (16.5 %), Klebsiella in 26 (12.2 %), Enterococci in 19 (8.9 %), Proteus in 16 (7.5 %) and Streptococci in 16 (7.5 %). Disk sensitivity tests showed that the majority of gram-negative organisms, except for Pseudomanas, were sensitive to Kanamycin or Wintomylon alone. The results of the treatment with Wintomylon in 9 cases of chronic and complicated patients were reported. Their organisms were found resistant to the usual drugs, and in this group 5 cases were eradicated, 2 suppressed and 2 persisted. Side effects were minimal.en
