前立腺肥大症に対するCerniltonの治療効果に関する計量的検討

Abstract

Twenty-five patients with prostatic hypertrophy were treated with administration of Cernilton, 6 tablets per day for three months. The results were as follows. 1. Subjective response was observed in the improvement of retardation (54%), nocturnal frequency (50%), feeling of residual urine (50%), weak urinary stream (47%), strain on urination (41 %) and protraction (22%). 2. An overall subjective response was excellent in 8%, fair in 56%, non-remarkable in 20% and none in 16%. Therefore 64% of the patients responded to the treatment. 3. As to residual urine, many of them showed decrease of it but some increase. Average volume was 32.5±25.0 ml before the treatment and 27.9±25.6 ml after the treatment without significant decrease. 4. Prostatometry with ultrasound tomography showed some increase of each dimension thus increase of weight of the prostate gland from 23.7±10.4g to 31.2±14.8g. Cernilton seems having no effect on the size of the prostate. 5. Uroflowmetry showed increase of the maximum flow rate from 8.7 ±4.3 ml/sec to 11.8±3.5 ml/sec. Cernilton is able to improve the urinary flow. 6. Urethral profilometry showed decrease of the length of prostatic urethra and lowering of the maximum urethral pressure from 28±14 g/cm to 12±3 g/cm. This was a significant response. 7. Objective response was excellent in none (0%), fair in 9 (36%), and non-remarkable in 13 (42%) and none in 3 (12%). 8. Hematological and blood chemistry examinations showed no alteration due to administration of Cernilton. 9. No untoward effect, subjective or objective, was observed at all. From the results mentioned above, it was concluded that Cernilton acts as to diminish edema of the urethral mucosa from the bladder neck to the external sphincter resulting in lowering of the urethral pressure and improvement of urination difficulty as well as vesical neck irritability. Because there is no side effect, Cernilton can be administered to all the cases of prostatic hypertrophy with expectancy of clinical response.
