抄録: Urodynamic examination was performed in 329 cases at Chuburosai Hospital during the past year. The data were statistically analyzed by computer. The patients were 223 males and 106 females. There were two peaks in the age distribution: one between 60 and 79 years old (41%) and the other under 10 years old (12%). The diseases suffered were neurogenic bladder (37%), prostatic disease (20%), incontinence (16%), iatrogenic urinary retention (7%) and others. Cystometric study disclosed unstable bladder in 37% of the patients, stable bladder in 27%, detrusor hyperreflexia in 24% and detrusor areflexia in 12%. Unstable bladder was found in 50 to 75% of the patients with prostatic diseases, incontinence, iatrogenic retention, vesicoureteral reflux and distal urethral stenosis. Many of the patients with unstable bladders were in their 70s or were under 10 years old. The average bladder capacity was dependent upon the specific cystometric type: 170 ml in detrusor hyperreflexia, 241 ml in unstable bladder, 317 ml in stable bladder and 455 ml in detrusor areflexia. The maximum urethral pressure obtained from the urethral pressure profile was not correlated with any of the cystometric patterns. Parameters of urinary flow curve and presence of urinary tract infection were closely correlated with the amount of residual urine.
