抄録: | Those nomadic peoples of northern Asia, the Hiung-nu (匈奴) and others, which rose and fell, may be classified into two categories; the nomadic empire which occupied the area north of the Great Wall with Mongolia as their base and the dynasties of conquest whose territory included not only Mongolia and Manchuria but China Proper. The Hiung-nu, the Turks, the Uighurs and the Mongols belong to the former, while Northern Wei (魏) of the T'o-pa (拓拔), Liao (遼) of the Ch'i-tan (Kitay), Chin (金) of the Jurcheng, Yuan (元) of the Mongols and Ch'ing (清) of the Manchus to the latter. Of those emumerated above the Mongol Empire as a nomadic empire and Yuan as a dynasty of conquest were both established by the Mongols, and the latter was nothing but a metamorphosis of the former. When we try to explain the process of this metamorphosis, the revolt of Arigbukha will throw a light on the problem. |
