『元朝秘史』十五巻本鈔本について : 陸心源舊藏本の檢討

Abstract

This essay is a study of the 15-juan manuscript version of the Yuanchaomishi, When the 15-juan text was recorded in the Yongle dadian 永樂大典, it was reeditted from a 12-juan text. Today, several manuscript versions of the text have been transmitted. In 1962, an 0ld manuscript of the text was published in facsimile by Palladii in the Soviet Union. By this publication we can easily consult the 15-juan manuscript versions. Concerning the Palladii text, we cannot say that it is authentic. And it seems that the 15-juan manuscript versions as a whole are vaguely regarded as unreliable. For this essay, I examined the manuscript version formerly in the collection of Lu Xinyuan 陸心源, now kept in the Seikado Library 靜嘉堂文庫. When this text is compared with the Palladii text, the following discrepancies become apparent : there are differences in about 3000 places ; the obvious mistakes in the Palladii text do not occur in the Seikado text. Considered from the point of view of the transmission of the printed texts, the large differences between these two versions in extremely close juxtaposition suggest that the manuscript versions of the 15-juan text have many variants. This necessitates a comparative examination of the other surviving versions of the 15-juan manuscript text. A revised text which can be compiled from the various versions of the 15-juan text must then be compared with a revised text made from the various 12-juan texts. By this work, the superior text of the Secret History 秘史 will have been determined.
