Abstract: | Based on Chinese and Persian language historical resources, this study discusses the activities of one of Cinggis-qan's four dogs, dorben noqas, a scion of the Sube'etei family, Uriangqadai, and his grandson, Aju, from the Mongke period of the Mongol Empire until the establishment of Qubilai's political power. Its conclusions are the following: (1) Uriangqadai was the military commander of the kesig of Mongke. When Mongke ascended the throne, he played a major role. (2) Uriangqadai directed the military expedition to Yunnan 雲南, and brought about its pacification. (3) It was necessary that Qubilai, for the sake of establishing his political power, ally with Uriangqadai and his army. Also, Uriangqadai had no choice but to cooperate with Qubilai. (4) After the establishment of Qubilai's political power, Aju became the duyuanshuai 都元帥, and commanded both the Mongolian and Chinese armies 蒙古, 漢軍 of Henan 河南. Thus the relationship between the Sube'etei family and the Henan area is tracable back to Sube'etei's times. |
