抄録: The construction and the contents of the text of Ayasofya 2612 manuscript of Kitab-i Bahriya (a manuscript of the text of the year 932, owned by Suleymaniye Kutuphanesi in Istanbul) were examined as fundamental work to consider the relation between the Ottoman Empire and Mediterranean World. As a result, the following points became obvious. (1) The current of narration of the text has regularity, but in the area of Aegean Sea and East Ionian Sea and that of West Mediterranean Sea (especially the part of the north coast of West Mediterranean Sea) the regularity is broken obviously. (2) As for the quantity of description of the text per area, the weight of the area of Aegean Sea and East Ionian Sea and that of Adriatic Sea and West Ionian Sea are large. (3) As for the quantity of description of the text per chapter, that of the area of West Mediterranean Sea especially the part of the north coast is peculiarly large. (4) The historical information of the text is relatively much in the area of West Mediterranean Sea and that along the north Africa. The reason is that descriptions over acts like piracy or conquest of Piri Ra'is are many. (5) The north coast of West Mediterranean Sea has a peculiar character in every point of the current of narration, the relative largeness of the number of pages and that of lines per chapter, and the quality and contents of the historical information. (6) The contemporary information about Mediterranean Sea was incorporated into Kitab-i Bahriya, so the Ottoman Empire was able to make use of such information.
