居延漢簡にみえる賣買關係簡についての一考察

Abstract

Among Juyan Han wooden strips, there are many strips on purchase and sale. From these strips, I will explain the actual condition of trade at that time and the method how authorities participated in it. In the course of this study, I exclusively used the strips which related to purchase and sale, making an exception of others, like strips having been related to loan of money and so on. Results are as follows: 1) Analyzing strips of account books and of tytles, it turned out that there were many strips in which sellers appeared as subjects, all of them having been soldiers. And from a point of view of the actual state of trade, there was a tendency that soldiers sold clothes to public servants. 2) Although there appeared public servants as well as soldiers in account books, they were made only for soldiers, taking public servants outside the object of concern. These account books were necessary for authorities to manage soldiers, and were not made by voluntary declaration from purchasers.
