抄録: | Major political changes occurred immediately following the assassination of Nader Shah Afshar in 1747. A struggle for succession took place among the Afshars in Khorasan, and in the end, Shahrokh became ruler. However, two coups occurred in 1749 and 1750, and once Shahrokh lost his power. Local powers in Khorasan played important roles during these disturbances. When threatened by enemies from outside Khorasan they united, however, when not facing such a threat they repeatedly struggled for power among themselves. Ahmad Shah Dorrani made two expeditions under such circumstances, and in conquering Mashhad he forced Shahrokh to submit to him. Following this, he acknowledged Shahrokh's right to rule in this area. Khorasan then came under the powerful influence of the Dorranis. We must not ignore the role of the local powers and the Dorranis in an attempt to reconstruct the political situation in Khorasan in the mid-eighteenth century. |
