抄録: In this paper, the author attempts to analyse the process of formation of the An-dong Kwon family and its lineage, which was known as a sajok based on Tanseong area in south part of the Korea peninsula in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Mainly by studying four kinds of nominal sources, the "hojok" (household register book), the "chokpo" (genealogical book), the "hyangan" (list of regional elite) and the anthologies of sajok members, the author comes to the conclusion as follows. 1. Before the sixteenth century, the sajok spread all parts of Korea by marriages and migrations. 2. The authority of the sajok based on local area was maintained by their legitimated behavior as a Confucian and their familial group's appointment as bureaucrat, and was reproduced by their lineage union. 3. Migrations of the local sajoks across the boundary of their ups disappeared in the eighteenth century. They shaped their lineage union within the up, which served as the primary geographical limit.
