内陸国ザンビアへの農業分野の援助と今後の方向性

Abstract

The Republic of Zambia has the Fifth National Development Plan 2006-2010 and the Sixth National Development Plan 2011-2015. Both of them focus on the growth of the Zambian economy and agriculture is expected to be a potential sector in the country's economy. Although government is trying to develop farm blocks for investment where basic infrastructure of farm land have already prepared by the government, donors challenge to reduce the poverty level that was initiated by UN as Millennium Development Goal. Japan's cooperation focuses on 3 sub-sectors in agriculture; participatory rural development in isolated area; food diversification and capacity development on irrigation which is expected to contribute to poverty reduction in rural area. Due to historical, cultural and political background, the agriculture of Zambia seems to have farther potentials and constrains in the future. The potentials are rice cultivation and crop (food) processing. The constraints are measures for shifting cultivation.
