福島県の特大だが少数の触手を有するベニクラゲ(ヒドロ虫綱, 花クラゲ目)

Abstract

福島県相馬港で2011年9月5日に一度に数千個体の大形のベニクラゲが集群し採取した特大サイズの雌雄の形態を調べたところどちらも傘径が13mm以上であったのに触手はわずか200本しか見られなかったので, 個体変異として記録する. 本個体は今回同時期に採集した福島県いわき市産の最大個体やほぽ同時期に採取し, 今回初めて詳細な形態の報告をした茨城県の2地点のものや, 過去に報告したいわき市や千葉県のものよりもサイズが大きいのに, 触手数が50ー150本ほど少ない特徴があった.

King-sized female and male medusae of Turritopsis sp. were collected on September 5, 2011 among several thousands of medusae gathered in a Soma harbour of Fukushima Prefecture, northern Japan. However, they have small number of tentacles despite of king-sized umbrella, namely they are more than 13 mm in diameter when collected but with just 200 tentacles of three whorls, showing 50 - 150 tentacles fewer than smaller medusae from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, two harbours in Ibaraki Prefecture, and from one beach in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
