|Abstract:||Room-temperature time-differential perturbed-angular-correlation (TDPAC) spectra of Ce in an Fe foil and in a He-doped Fe foil, unannealed and annealed in vacuum at various temperatures, were taken in order to see whether Ce and He form in Fe a complex that has a definite geometrical structure, as suggested in first-principles density functional theory calculations. Our TDPAC results do not indicate the existence of such a complex in Fe. We also discuss briefly He-vacancy clusters formed in the bombardments of He and Cs (a precursor of Ce).|
