Abstract: We installed a Manten seismic observation network with 81 high-gain short period seismometers in the Western Tottori Prefecture region, in order to clarify the stress field and fault strength in the aftershock area of the 2000 Western Tottori Prefecture earthquake. We can determine very precisely focal mechanisms of magnitudes of about zero using the data from the dense seismic array spacing a few km.
