Abstract

Since 2012, Tokyo Women's Medical University Medical Center East, Japan, and the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University, China, have been providing short-term training to each other every year under the theme "Active Aging." We aim to further enhance our collaboration and build strategic partnerships in the future. We recognize that Japan and China will both have rapidly aging populations in the years to come and will thus face new challenges that require urgent attention, such as maintaining health, responding to welfare and social security needs, and preventing isolation and poverty of the elderly. Given the variations in the current situation of aging in the health, labor, and welfare sectors and the social and cultural differences between the two countries, we can conclude that the current issues faced by each country may not be the same.
