<論説>南北朝正閏問題について

Abstract

南北朝正閏問題は、国体にかんする問題を正面からとりあげ、学問上の問題から、やがて政治問題に発展し、桂内閣の命とりになるのではないかといわれた重大事件である。これにかんし従来は思想史の問題として多くとりあげられてきたが、本稿ではなるべく未公開の資料を中心に、政界上層部の動きを重点とし、それを当時の政況のなかで位置づけようとした。

The controversy on the legitimacy of the Southern Dynasty and the Northern Dynasty was a very serious event that dealt with problem of the national polity straightly, then developed from an academic problem into a political one, and threatened to become a fatal issue to Katsura Cabinet. Henceforth, this problem has been considered mainly as that of the history of the ideas. In this article, however, focusing on the activity of the upper political society and using the unpublished material as much as possible, I would like to place this controversy in the context of the contemporary political condition.
