<論説>鳥毛立女屛風下貼文書の研究 : 買新羅物解の基礎的考察

Abstract

正倉院蔵の鳥毛立女屛風には、下貼に天平勝宝四年の反故文書が用いられている。この文書は、買物申請帳・買新羅物解などとして公刊されている正倉院文書と同類のものであって、本来はすべて同じ屛風の下貼をなしていた。これらの買物関係文書は、勝宝四年の新羅使節がもたらした交易品を買うにあたって貴顕から大蔵省又は内蔵寮に提出されたもので、廃棄後、内蔵寮から、同じ中務省被管の内匠寮又は画工司に払下げられ、屛風の下貼に転用されたと考えられる。なお下貼には、中務省図書寮から払下げられたかと推測される文書断片もある。文書から知られる交易品の内容は、大別して唐及び唐を中継地とする南海方面の物産と、新羅の特産品とになり、八世紀代から新羅人が東シナ海方面で貿易活動を行っていたことが知られる。新羅の特産品が含まれていることとあわせて、新羅との交渉が外来文化摂取の上に果した役割は、改めて注目する必要があろう。

To the screens 'Torigedachi-Onna-Byobu', the documents wasted in 4 Tempyo-Shoho 天平勝宝 are used as their canvas. They are called the Shosoin 正倉院 documents, a part of which is published as 'Kaimono-Moshiukecho' 買物申請帳 or Kaishiragi-Monoge'. These documents of the trade, I think, are originally presented to 'Okurasho' 大蔵省 or 'Kuraryo' 内蔵寮 by the nobles to import the goods brought by the envoy of Shiragi 新羅 in 4 Tempyo-Shoho. They, after having been scrapped, are sent from 'Kuraryo' to 'Gakoshi' 画工司 or 'Takumiryo' 内匠寮 to use for that purpose. According to them, the imported articles on the whole consist of the speciality in Shiragi, the goods of T'ang 唐 and that of the South Asia transported through T'ang; which reveals that the Shiragis have carried on commerce from eighth century in the East China Sea 東シナ海. We must accordingly pay much attention to the Japanese relation to Shiragi in view of the absorption of foreign cultures.
