「自己」の感覚はいかにして生ずるか? --自己感をめぐる心理学的研究の概観と展望--

Abstract

人は日常的な体験を主観的に組織化し加工していくことで, その都度「自己」というまとまりを生み出していくが, こうした組織化の主体は自己感(sense of self)と呼ばれる。自己感の理論的体系化を初めて試みたのはStern(1985)であり, その実証にあたっては「被観察乳児 observed infant」(発達心理学の研究において乳幼児の行動観察から見出された知見)と「臨床乳児 clinical infant」(精神分析の発達理論に基づき遡及的に導出された知見)の統合が目指されていた。本稿では, Sternの理論に基づいて, 被観察乳児・臨床乳児それぞれの立場から近年の自己感研究の発展を概観した。また, 自己感の非定型な状態像として統合失調症と発達障害の2つを挙げ, その特異な体験についても取り上げた。被観察乳児・臨床乳児いずれの領域においても, 自己感は今なお重要なテーマとして注目されており, 現代の臨床実践における「自己」の問題を考える上でも有益な示唆を与えてくれるものであることがわかった。

People organize and process everyday experiences subjectively. Each time this occurs, the construct of "self" is created. The subject of such organization is called "the sense of self." Stern (1985) was the first theorist to attempt theoretical systematization of the sense of self, to which he integrated the concepts of "observed infant" (knowledge found in infant observation in the study of developmental psychology) and "clinical infant" (knowledge derived retrospectively based on the developmental theory of psychoanalysis) to verify his theory. Based on Stern's theory, this article reviews recent developments in research on the sense of self from the standpoint of observed infant and clinical infant. In addition, the atypical sense of self generated by schizophrenia and developmental disorder is also discussed. In studies on both observed infant and clinical infant, the sense of self continues to be an important research subject and it provides useful suggestions for understanding the problem of "self" in modern clinical practice.
