<研究ノート>カナダ ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州の国際教育プグラム --BC州オフショアスクールの紹介--

Abstract

The BC offshore school is certified by the province of British Columbia Ministry of Education, in Canada, under its International Education Branch. The BC offshore schools are located in various countries world-wide, and enables students to receive the BC curriculum which is also regulated and delivered by the BC Ministry of Education. The BC offshore school is still a new school system in Japan, since the first offshore school has just opened in 2015. The BC offshore school in Japan aims to deliver a globally-oriented educational program, which is a mixture of the BC and the Japanese curriculum. Students graduating from the BC offshore school in Japan are able to receive a Double diploma, from both Japanese and BC high schools. The BC Dogwood Diploma, which is a graduation diploma for BC high school, is known for its high quality assurance, and is accepted to many universities throughout the world. Since we live in a global world, for students who wish to continue their post-secondary studies in international settings and work globally in the future, there is still a strong need for mastering English. This paper aims to introduce the new school system and the characteristics of the BC offshore school in Japan, which is very unique from the existing schools in our country.
