<論説>漢代明器泥象と生活様式 : 長沙・広州・貴県の場合

Abstract

この数年来、長沙、広州をはじめ華南における考古学的調査の進歩は、めざましいものがある。長沙、耒陽、広州、九龍、貴県の漢代墓葬とその出土品、ことに死後の生活にそなえた陶製の明器をふりかえつてみると、後漢代の明器の組合せにおいて、個々の形式が一致したものが多いのに気がつくのである。明器の主なものに家屋、猪圏 (豚ゴヤ)、倉、囷 (円い穀物ぐら)、井戸、灶 (かまど) などがある。これらには華北の形式をおそいながら、高温多雨という華南の自然条件に適応した新しい生活様式がつくり出されていることがみとめられるのである。この地域に、秦始皇帝、前漢武帝、後漢の光武帝の時など、南征の師がおこされ、漢族の南下したことが、歴史上知られている。蛮族の中にありながら、漢族の鉄と農業の文化を浸透させていつた姿をささやかな明器のセットのなかにたどつていきたい。

For these years archaeological investigations in the southern China, including Ch'ang-sha (長沙) and Kuang-chou (広州), have made a rapid progress. To look back upon burials and finds of the Han (漢) era in Ch'ang-sha (長沙), Lai-yang (来陽), Kuang-chou (広州), Chiu-lung (九龍), and Kuei-hsien (貴県), especially earthen ming-ch'i (明器) which were ready for the life beyond the grave, makes us aware of their identification with many earthen ming-ch'i in the Later-han (後漢) dynasty in their combination and individual style. Principal ming-ch'i were wu (屋), chu-chüan (猪圏), ts'ang (倉), chün (囷), ching (井), and tsao (灶), which show to have created a new mode of life fit for natural conditions of rain and moisture in the southern China after the style in the northern. It is well-knon in history that expeditions were made there in the periods of Emperor Shih-huang of ch'in (秦始皇帝), Emperor Wu of the Former Han (前漢武帝), and Emperor Kuang Wu of the Later Han (後漢光武帝) and the Chinese people advanced southward. Then we want to trace the figure of the Chinese people who penetrated the civilization of iron and agriculture into the surrounding barbarians.
