抄録: | Lazare Carnot is an eminent mathematical scientist and engineer in 18th Century. Traditionally 18th Century infinitesimal analysis is recognized as magnanimous and vague and we have a tendency to treat it as proto-step before the achievement of rigorization of analytical mathematics by A. L. Cauchy and K. Weierstrass, as we call the analytical revolution in 19th Century. This kind of historiography, however, is only one side of 18th Century Mathematics and the tendency into rigorization would be seen already in L. Carnot’s famous work, Réflexions sur la métaphysique du calcul infinitésimal (1797). |
