抄録: | This treatise is divided into two parts. In the first part, St. Augustine's doctrine on the relation of God to temporal things is examined in reference to what he says in Book I of his Confessions, and it is concluded that, according to St. Augustine, temporal things are contained in God in two ways : 1st, in so far as the ideas of things are in God ; and 2nd, in so far as God creates and conserves things in their own existence. In the second part, the doctrine of St. Thomas Aquinas on the same subject is considered, and an investigation and explanation is made regarding what St. Thomas received from Augustine's doctrine, how he explained it, and how he perfected it according to his own way. |
