<実践報告>協定等に基づく多文化共学短期受入留学プログラム(通称 : 京都サマープログラム) --10年間の実践記録と今後の展開への視点--

Abstract

本稿の目的は、京都大学で10年間継続してきた「多文化共学短期受入留学プログラム」について、設立の経緯、カリキュラム、教育効果そして今後の課題と展開を報告することである。本プログラムは、京都大学と大学間交流協定等を締結している海外のトップ大学の学生を約2週間、本学に受け入れる短期留学プログラムである。対象大学は、2012年度の北京大学から始まり、2021年度までに東アジア、アセアン、欧州、北米、アフリカの20大学以上に拡大した。本プログラムは、(1)学術講義、(2)日本語授業、(3)FieldtripやCultural Experience等から構成される。本プログラムでは、多文化理解、学際的視野、語学力、リーダーシップの養成を柱として、教育効果の高いカリキュラムの開発を目指してきた。2020年度に始まった新型コロナウィルスの拡大以降も、オンラインでの実施に切り替えることで、プログラムを継続してきた。本稿の最後では、単位認定や運営体制の効率化の必要など課題を指摘した。そして今後の展開として、新会社の設立と一部業務の委託を提案した。

This paper assesses the curriculum, educational effects, challenges, and prospects of a two-week study program that has been hosted by Kyoto University in Japan, the Short-term Multicultural Study Program (known as the Kyoto Summer Program), for the past ten years (2012–2021). Beginning as a program exclusive to Peking University in 2012, today students from more than 20 top universities in East Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa participate together with local Kyoto University students. The program provides a mixture of (1) academic lectures, (2) Japanese language classes, (3) field trips, and cultural experiences to develop multicultural understanding, interdisciplinary perspectives, language competencies and student leadership. During a decade of operation, both domestic and international students report educational, social, and personal growth benefits. These benefits have been sustained even during the recent COVID-19 pandemic with the help of online and other tools. Despite this, challenges persist and thus, to enhance the efficiency and quality of the program, the authors examine the potential for outsourcing administrative work to a new company and establishing a system to formally grant educational credits.
