<論文>日本映画のファッション表象 --『街燈』(1957)における女性の自立と絆--

Abstract

本稿は，1950年代における日本映画に登場する洋服の衣裳と，その制作者である衣裳デザイナーについて考察する．戦前，借りて済まされる衣裳に批判が集まると，1940年頃より美術監督が衣裳をデザインするようになる．しかし戦後に入り，日本の映画会社は競って映画にファッションに従事する人々を登場させると共に，プロの洋裁師が衣裳デザインを担当する事例が増える．当時の日本では，洋裁学校に通う女性が増えた実態があり，そこで，そうした状況下で洋裁技術を身に着けた森英恵が映画界で活躍するに至った理由を，井上雅人による概念「洋裁文化」を参考にして検討する．さらに，『街燈』(中平康監督，1957年) を事例に衣裳の役割を分析する．具体的には，森英恵による女性衣裳の分析を現象学に依拠して行いつつ，原作からの変更点にも着目することにより，洋裁や洋服を物語世界の中心とした当該作品の特殊性について考察する．

This paper considers the costume designers who designed western clothes for Japanese contemporary films by surveying the film industry from 1940s to the time when the studio system was in operation in 1950s. First, I discuss the significance of costume designers by clarifying their position and roles in the film industry. In post-war period, those who could “design western clothes” came to be in demand with the increase in contemporary films. Secondly, I examine the fact that many films on people in the fashion industry were being produced in 1950s by drawing on Masahito Inoueʼs concept of “dressmaking culture”.At the time, women increasingly began attending dressmaking schools, and Hanae Mori, a graduate of such a school, took charge of costume design in the film industry. Lastly, I discuss Ko Nakahiraʼs Streetlight (1957) focusing on film costumes. Specifically, I demonstrate the factors that attracted the audience to itsfashion-themed narrative by analyzing Hanae Moriʼs female costumes, using the theory of phenomenology, and comparing the original novel and the film version.
