Abstract: The compressibility factors of gaseous and liquid ammonia have been measured within an error of 0.2% under the following conditions : gaseous ammonia ; 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125℃, up to the vicinity of each saturated vapor pressure by the constant volume method, liquid ammonia; 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125℃, from each saturated vapor pressure to 500atm by the variable volume method. For gaseous ammonia, the results were also presented in the power series of density and pressure respectively and the second virial coefficients were compared with those calculated by the equations given by other workers.
