Abstract

This paper deals with the methods for the analysis of elastic-plastic behavior of space framesfor the following three types of failure: I) plastic mechanism failure, 2) buckling failure, and 3)overall instability failure. The frames are assumed to be rigidly jointed and to be made of materialwith elastic and perfectly plastic properties. All loads statically increase (or decrease) in fixedproportions and their directions remain unchanged during the entire history of loading. Numericalexamples are given to illustrate application of the methods developed, and to discuss elastic-plasticbehavior of space frames.
