Abstract: The eye wall region of typhoon is the region with the most severe wind and rain. Thestructure of air flow in this region is studied. With the aid of the hurricane aircraft recon-naissance data, a model of air flow in the boundary layer of eye wall region was constructed.The airflow in the surface layer converging into the eye region with increasing wind speed anddeviation angle overshoots into inside of eye-wall, which is identical with maximum gradientwind speed region, and then slows down and turns upward. Therefore, the maximum tangen-tial wind speed and the maximum convergence of the surface wind occur a little inside of thoseof the airflow above the surface layer or in the eye-wall.
