| 抄録: | This paper sets out to examine Tutuba language demonstratives based on my own fieldwork data. The Tutuba language is one of the vernaculars of the Republic of Vanuatu and is now supposedly spoken by less than 500 people. This study establishes the types of demonstratives that exist in the Tutuba language, and what the criteria are for the classification. I analyze the native informant data, and identify four types of demonstratives: ① determinative demonstratives, ② independent demonstratives, ③ distal and proximal demonstratives, and ④ directional demonstratives. I also show that each of them has different criterion for meaning, morphology and syntax. |
