抄録: | The Western Jin dynasty ended in disorder and devastation and an enormous number of North Chinese people under the patronage of powerful aristocratic clans emigrated, in groups, to the Jiang-nan 江南 area. This large-scale emigration and the establishment of the Eastern Jin dynasty by these northern aristocrats provoked much antagonism from the native noble families of the South. It is believed that this antagonism was eventually resolved by the end of the era. Some scholars, however, are of the opinion that factions among the court-nobility were, in part, results of a continued feeling of mutual resentment. In the present paper the author has undertaken to investigate what roles the court-nobles of northern and southern origin played in the high offices of the Shang-shu-sheng 尚書省 and to what extent they were mutually co-operative. The author concludes that the political activities of the aristocracy in the Eastern Jin court were not in the least influenced by the region of their descent. He believes he has demonstrated the disappearance of hereditary antagonism among the aristocracy even on a political level. |
