dc.description.abstractIn Gregory Bateson's communication theory, the idea of ecology prevails here and there. I have studied about Gregory Bateson, especially from "the logical categories of leaning and communication". But it was still difficult for me to understand profoundly. So my challenge in this paper was to clearly present the idea of ecology by Bateson clearly and to rethink it from the perspective of learning theory. I am assured that these two themes are very related. In fact the idea of ecology by Bateson meant the idea of "ecology of mind". It means the cybernetic system, including people, society and environment. And they are corelated with one another. Bateson criticized dualism, because separating mind and body bring cuts into our relational system. We are not machines; we live in a living world. I could show a parallel relationship between the upper category of learning (Learning III) and the idea of "ecology of mind" especially in "the sacred" level. Considering how we can rethink Bateson's learning categories totally from the epistemology based on Bateson's idea, "ecology of mind" is an important practice for our lifelong leaning.en
