Abstract

Statistical observations were made on 124 retrogra d e pyelograms of normal cases (61 males and 63 females) and 120 of so-called essential hematuria (65 males and 55 females), and comparative studies of the both groups led to the following results : The kidneys with the essential hematuria were slightly dislocated d o wnward as compared with normal kidneys, and the anatomic renal pelvis of bleeding side was frequently greater than that of opposite side. Thus the nephroptosis was closely related to renal bleeding. In the pyelograms of essential hematuria, extrarenal backflows, especially pyelointerstitial backflows at the bleeding side were more frequently observed than in normal kidneys. These findings suggested that the pathological changes may exist in the pelvic mucosa at bleeding side.
