抄録: The activity of pyrophosphatase was not di s tinctly known in our urological field because we had no methods for its histological demonstration. Last year, Maeda successed in it. I tried to observe the pyrophosphatase activity in various urological organs of normal rabbits by use of Maeda's method. Consequently, the results obtained were as follows. Pyrophosphatase Type I. Kidney : Renal corpu s le, renal capsule, epithelium of glomerulus and basement membrane of it showed the weak positive reaction, but proximal and distal convoluted tubule often showed the weak positive reaction too. Interstitial tissue was always negativ. Endothelium of blood vessel was mild positive. Testis : Spermatogonia, spermatocy t e, and spermatid always showed the positive reaction and Sertoli's supporting cells were often positive. Interstitial cells and connective tissue were shown almost negative reaction. Epididymis In efferent ductule and duaus epididymis, their epithilium cells were always shown positive. Interstitial connective tissue was negative while circular smooth muscle layer was always mild positive. Seminal vesicle : Mucous m e mbrane was positive and lamnia propria was mild positive, but outer capsule being always negative. Prostate : Glandular epithelium sh o w ed always the strong positive reaction, but interstitial tissue and fibrous connective tissue were always negative. Pyrophosphatase Type II. Kidney : Renal corpu s cle, renal copsule, epithelium of glomerulus and basement membrane of it always showed the strong positive reaction. Type II in proximal and distal convoluted tubule was stronger than Type I. In the testis, epididymis, seminal vesi c l e, and prostate, I could not recognize the essential difference between Type I and Type II. Consequently, I know that the activity of pyrophosphatase distributes more widely than that of phosphomonoesterase and has more important significance in the metabolism of animal or human body.
