抄録: The protective colloidal activity in urine has been examined after the administration of adrenaline and pyrocarpine to the patients with urolithiasis. Under the consideration of the hypothesis that the adrenal cortical hormones may be changed by stress influence, the changes of activity of protective urinary colloids has been observed under the following conditions administration of ACTH and cortisone preparation (1) to the rabbits, (2) to the patients with adrenal cortical disturbances (each one of Addison' s syndrome and Cushing' s syndrome). 1) It w a s found that the concentration of urinary colloids was increased by the administration of adrenaline, and it was decreased by the administration of pyrocalpine in rabbits. 2) The protective activity of urinary colloids of the patient with Addison' s sy n drome was higher than normal, and it decreased upto the almost normal level when the cortisone preparation was given. On the other hand, the protective activity of urinary colloids of the patient with Cushing's syndrome was lower than normal, and it increased more than normal level after the adrenalectomy was performed. The concentration of mucoprotein in urine revealed the similar changes before and after the administration. (continued) 3) The concentration of urinary colloids of rabbit seemed decreased by the administration of ACTH in all of the cases except the rabbits with diarrhea and other physical disorders during the experiment. No change has been recognized on the concentration of urinary colloids in rabbits before and during the administration of cortisone preparation, but it showed higher level after the completion of administration. The results of this experiment seems to be due to the fact that the adrenal function is increased by ACTH and it is decreased by cortisone. Conclusions T h e concentration of protective colloids in urine is decreased by the adrenal hyperfunction in stress. The dysfunction of autonomic nervous system causes the change of urinary colloids. It seems to me that there is an important relationship between the factor which may cause a primary urinary calculus and decrease of the protective colloidal activity in urine in the situation of stress or dysfunction of autonomic nervous system.
