Abstract

This report deals bacteriological observations o n nontuberculous cystitis containing 186 cases. 159 cases were bacterial origin and others nonbacterial origin. 1) 12 cases of 63 with male acute cystitis were nonbacterial o r igin, 27 were bacillal type, 16 coccal type and 8 mixed type. 15 cases of 68 cases with female acute cystitis were nonbacterial origin, 19 bacillal type, 21 coccal type and 13 mixed type. 12 cases of 39 with male chronic cystitis were bacillal type, 21 coccal type and 13 mixed type. Three cases of 16 with female chronic cystitis were bacillal type, five coccal type and eight mixed type. 2) 2 80 strains were isolated from urine of patients with acute cystitis. 105 strains of colon bacilli containing 84 strains of Coli-type, 17 strains of Aerogenes-type and four strains of Paracoli-type were isolated which were most common bacteria in acute cystitis and represented 37.5% of the total strains. 98 strains of staphylococci containing 82 strains of M. pyog. var. albus and 16 of aureus were isolated, which represented 35% of the total strains. 14 strains, representing 5%, of streptococci containing one of a-type, three of i3-type and ten of 7-type were isolated. 7 strains of proteus bacilli, 3 of pyocianeus bacilli , 3 of fecalis alcaligenes bacilli, 12 of other gram-negative bacilli, one of corynebacterium bacilli and 16 of other gram-positive bacilli and 21 strains of other cocci were isolated. 3) After comparision of sensitivity disc method with dilution method beeing performed, sensitivity test to several kinds of antibiotics of 98 strains of M. pyog. var. albus, 14 of M. pyog. var. aureus, 3 of /3-type streptococcus, 84 of Coli-type colon bacillus, 17 of Aerogenes-type colon bacillus, 7 of Proteus and 3 of Pyocianeus were performed using sensitivity disc method. Strains of M . pyog. var. albus were resistant to penicillin in 86.7%, to streptomycin in 60.9%, to chloramphenicol in 23.2%, to chlortetracycline in 38.5%, to oxytetracyciine in 32.3% and to erythromycin in 10.1%. Strains of M. pyog. var. aureus were resistant to penicillin in 64.2%, to streptomycin in 64.3%, to chloramphenicol in 14.3%, to chlortetracycline in 35.7% and to oxytetracycline in 35.7%, however no resistant strain to erythromycin was found. All three strains of 8-type streptococcus were sensitive to penicillin, chloramphenicol, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline and erythromycin, though one strain was resistant to streptomycin. Strains of Col i - type colon bacillus were sensitive to streptomycin in 42%, to chloramphenicol in 81%, chlortetracycline in 69.1% and to oxytetracycline in 83.3%, though all were resistant to penicillin and erythromycin. Strains of Aerogenes-type colon bacillus were sensitive to streptomycin in 41.2%, to chloramphenicol in 82.3%, to chlortetracycline in 82.4% and to oxytetracycline in 76.5%, though all were to penicillin and erythromycin. All of seven strains of Proteus were resistant to these six antibiotics. All of three Pyocianeus strains were resistant to penicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, chlortetracycline and erythromycin, though one strain was relativery sensitive to oxytetracycline.
