抄録: The author conducted a polarographic S t u dy on the protein wave of the whole semen of boar, he-goat, ram, bull and man. He obtained the results that t h e protein wave boar characteristic depending upon the species. The results are detailed below. 1) The difference between the height of the protein waves of the whole semen and semen plasma noted on the polarogram is very small. 2) The height of the protein waves in the va r ious specimens increase in the following order : native, digest, methanol-deproteinized and filtrate. The mucoprotein content of semen is considered t o be more abundant than that of serum. 3) In bull's semen, the value of protein in the various specimens increases in the following order : native, digest, filtrate and methanol-treated. In the methanol-treated specimen, the height of the wave is found to be 3 times as that of the native specimen. The SH radical contained in bull's semen is believed to be small in quantity. 4) In boar's semen, the height of the wave in the various specimen s increases in the following order native, digest, methanol and filtrate. The height of the wave of the filtrate specimen was found to be 4 times as high as the native specimen. 5) In the ram and he-goat, the height of the wave of the various specimens in the following order digest, native and the filtrate, with a great discrepancy between the native and the filtrate specimens. It is considered that mucoprotein is in large amounts. With both native and digest specimens, the SH radical content shows a decrease in the order of bull> ram> he-goat> boar> man. In the filtrate specimen, the mucopro t e in content shows a decrease in the following order : He-goat> boar> bull> ram> man.
