新サルファ剤メトファジンの尿路感染症に対する応用

Abstract

This report deals with clinical research for tretm e nt of urinary tract infections with a long-acting sulfonamide, sulfamethomidine (Methofazine). This drug acheaved high plasma concentr a tions within four hours and maintained them for at least 24 hours following single oral dosis of 1 gram. Twenty-four hours after oral administration about 23.5% of the administrated dose of this drug was recovered in the urine. This d r u g was used for urinary tract infections containing 7 cases with acute cystitis (5 : significantly effective, 2 : effective), 3 cases with chronic cystitis (2 : effective, 1 : not effective), one case with acute pyelitis (effective), 2 cases with chronic pyelitis (1 effective, 1 : not effective) and 2 cases with N. G. U. (1 : significantly effective, 1 : effective ).
