泌尿器科領域に於けるコリスチン使用経験

Abstract

Culture and sensitivity tests were studied with urine or pus taken from the patients on whom antibiotics had been administered for considerable period or without noticeable improvement. Colistin administered intramuscularly gave following results for the urological patients with urinary tract infection caused by organism resistant to various antibiotics. (1) Development of resistance to Colistin was rarely found. (2) Of 13 patients, 10 showed remarkable improvemen t both in clinical and laboratory findings. (3) Side effects were observed in 5 patients out of 13 as being manifested by general malaise, anorexia, nausea or vomiting which made it unable to continue the medication in 3 cases. One patient developed a spike of fever 3 to 4 hours after injection, but this reaction disappeared very soon by discontinuing Colistin. (4) Pain at the site of injection seemed to b e a small hazard ; therefore, administration to the children might be a little difficult.
