Abstract

There are quite a few factors as to the indicati o ns of nephropexy, among which renal function when the kidney descended should be considered especially. In such a meaning, PSP test was studied in erect as well as supine position of normal and nephroptotic patients. Emptying time of the renal pelvis was also checked in the same manner. Of five females with unilateral renal ptosis, all showed normal PSP test in supine position and 37.5% abnormal in erect position. Five males with unilateral renal ptosis showed normal PSP value in supine position, whereas 60% of them being abnormal in erect position. Out of five males with bilateral nephroptosis, whose PSP in supine position being normal, 20% was abnormal in PSP test in erect position. On the other hand, 29 females with bilateral nephroptosis all showed normal PSP in supine, but 65.5% showed abnormal in erect position. Delayed emptying time was remarkable when ptosis was left-sided rather tha n when right-sided. Bilaterally ptotic kidneys, of course, demonstrated much more delay in emptying time of the renal pelves.
