Abstract

KIMOPSIN, α-chymotrypsin, is one of the endopeptidas e s and recently known to have curative effect on inflammatory edema. In our urological practice, it was administered, intramuscularly or topically, to the patients with draining sinus or postoperative local swelling. In the former, mucopurulent discharge from the infected wound became serous and diminished in amount ; and in the latter postoperative swelling due to edema or hematoma remarkably subsided or could be prevented if given at the time of operation. No side effect was experienced.
