This report deals with a case of generalized cryptococcosis accompanied with acute myelogenous leukemia and discussions on renal infectious foci in such situations. The conclusions were drawn as follows. 1. Infectious foci of the kidney were found to be caused by dissemination of spores through hematogenously from usually intrapulmonary and rarely extrapulmonary foci. Lymphogenous and retrograde urinary tract dissemination into the kidney occur in only extremely rare instances. 2. The spec i f icity of the histological finding of the kidney found at the infectious foci of cryptococcosis is characterized by the so called vesicle formation with a remarkable changes in the glomerulus. 3. The rena l changes were classified into the following 5 types with regards to cases of renal tuberculosis and fungus infection of the other varieties. (1) Focal embolic glomerulitis, (2) Miliary or n odulo-granulomatous nephritis, (3) Ulcero-caseous nephritis, (4) Acute or chronic pyelonephritis and (5) Fibrozing nephritis. 4. For the diagnosis of urinary tract infection of cryptococcus the most i m portant evidence was detection of the fungi in urine specimen.en
