dc.description.abstract1) Male rabbits, weighed 2-2.5 kg, were subjecte d to be treated with a-Cyanoacrylate monomer for adhesion of incised wounds. In 4 rabbits opperated on nephrotomy, 1 rabbit on partial nephrectomy followed by autotransplantation of fascia and 5 rabbits on incision of the bladder, either incised surface or edge of the wounds were all successfully adhered with use of the agent. 2) The animals were sacrificed after 1 to 6 weeks of observation, during which periods no one deceased. The main visceral organs were found to have nothing noticeable alterations in both macro- and microscopical findings. Adhesion of the incised wounds were perfectly achieved in both kidneys and bladders. The polymer applied to the wounds seemed to be absorbed in 7 to 10 days. The incised wounds appeared to be completely organized in 4 to 6 weeks. 3) X-ray examination of the bladder confirmed that the adhesion is completely achieved with sufficient function of dilatation. 4) In 3 out of 5 rabbit s subjected to bladder adhesion, wall-attached small calculi were demonstrated in the bladder. Further studies confirmed that the adhesive is capable of formation of foreign body calculi as its nuclei when the adhesive is dropped and attached to the mucosa of the bladder.en
