Abstract

A preparation of the acid phosphatase partially puri f i ed from human semen was injected intravenously into the rabbit and the influence of the injected enzyme upon the body was investigated. It was observed that the enzymatic activity in blood was restored to the normal level after increasing temporarily, and that acid phosphatase level elevated in liver. It could not be proved that the human seminal acid phosphatase pene t rated positively into any tissue when the enzyme was incubated with slices of the liver, kidney and heart. It was recognized, however, that a substance existing in rabbit serum was responsible for strong inhibition of the enzyme activity. It may indicate that the rapid disappearance of this enzyme in blood is due mainly to the inhibition of the enzyme.
