抄録: Cephaloridine, which is a new semi-synthesized antibiot i c s invented at the Glaxo Laboratory of the England, is known to have a strong anti-bacterial actions against Gram positive and negative bacilli. In our clinic, Cephaloridine was administered to patients with various urinary tract infections and observations on clinical effects as well as basic experiments were performed. The results of study are summerized as follows. 1) Among 26 cases given Cephaloridine, including 2 cases of acute pyelitis, 3 chronic pyelitis, 7 acute cystitis, 4 chronic cystitis, 4 acute gonorrhea, 2 non-gonorrheal urethritis and 4 other infections, remarkable effect, good effect and no effect were seen in 19, 4 and 3 cases respectively, making 88.5 % effectiveness showing a distinguished result. The dosage given was 0.5 to 1.0 gms. daily with the total of 1.5 to 7.0 gms. 2) Blood concentration and urinary excretion rate. With 0.5 g ms intramuscular injection, the blood concentration reached to the maximum level (10.4-8.3 mcg/ml) in 1 hour and the effective blood concentration retained for 6 homs. Similar pattern was seen with 1.0 gm intermuscular injection. The urinary excre tion rate after 0.5 gms. intramuscular injection was 65.1% in the No. 1 case and 42.3% in the No. 2 case. After 1.0g m. intramuscular injection, the urinary excretion rate was found to be 61.9 % in one case studied. 3) Anti-bacterial effects. Using agar-plate d ilution method and disc method, sensitivity of staphylococc, i E. coli, proteus bacilli and pneumo bacilli against CER was compared to that of against other various antibiotics. With a exception of proteus bacilli, the sensitive levels of concentration of the CEP were seen in low concentration areas for almost all bacilli tested, whereas the sensitive levels of concentration of the other antibiotics were found in high concentration areas for same bacilli. 4) Side effects. No notice able side effects was observed in all of 32 cases treated.
