In the first place, bacteriological specialities of the chronic urinary tract infections derived from traumatic paraplegics were studied statistically. The results were summarized as follows ; 1) In most cases two or more species of o rganism were isolated. 2) Proteus species (Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis, Morganella and Rettgerella) were the most commonly isolated organism as the cause of infection. 3) Organisms isolated from the urine of these patients were widely resistant to the ordinal antimicrobial agents. Secondly, the effe c tiveness of Colimycin (colistin methanesvlfonate sodium) on the chronic urinary tract infections associated with traumatic paraplegics were evaluated clinically and bacteriologically. The following results were obtained. 1) Out of 14 cases given 66.8mg of Colimycin intramusc u larly for 6 days, 5 cases showed clinical and bacteriological improvements. 2) Out of 14 cases in which 80 0 mg of Colimycin was administered for 6 days orally, only one showed improvement. 31 Combination of Colimvcin and Sulfarnethizole showed no synergistic effect clinically.en
