抄録: | Determination of cholesterol in seminal plasma was made in 42 patients who visited our clinic with a chief complaint of sterility. These patients were consisted of 16 cases of aspermia (A-group), and 26 cases of infertiles without aspermia (B-group). Five fertile subjects were studied as control (C-group). The results obtained are summarized as follows. 1) The maximum, minimum and mean values of cholesterol in each group w ere as follows : 158 mg/dl, 44 mg/dl and 92 mg/dl in the A-group, 164 m g/dl, 60 mg/dl and 98.6mg dl in the B-group and 80 mg/dl, 58 mg/dl and 66.7 mg/dl in the C-group. 2) In 11 out of 16 cases of A-group and in 19 out of 26 cases of B-group, the cholesterol levels exceeded the maximum value of the C-group, 80 mg/dl. 3) In the B-group, majority of cases showed less th a n 50 % of mobility of spermatozoa. As the mobility to be decreased the total cholesterol level yielded to be increased. 4) Administrations of male sexual hormone and serum gonadotropic h ormone made the total cholesterol level decreased in 4 cases out of 5. 5) The ester ratio of cholesterol was below 6 0 % in 11 out of 16 cases of A-group, 18 out of 26 cases of B-group and 4 out of 5 cases of C-group. In summarizing these results, total cholesterol l evel in human seminal plasma decreases with administration of male sexual hormone and shows higher level in patients with sterility. It is posturated that cholesterol in human seminal plasma is under the control of male sexual hormone and is in the process of excretion. |
