抄録: Using Huggins' dog, studies were carried out on effect of administration of various hormones on mucopolysaccharide (MPS) content in the prostatic fluid measured by Boas' method. 1. MPS content in the prostatic fluid of normal dog ranged between 133 and 197 7/d1. 2. Following testosterone propionate administration, MPS content increased, altho u gh different dosage of the drug with daily amounts of 5 mg, 10 mg or 20 mg made no much difference of its effect on MPS. 3. Following estradiol benzoate administration, MPS content begun to decrease from the 5th day. Returning of MPS level was observed around 15 days after discontinuance of the drug administration. 4. Th e MPS content also decreased following administration of mixture of male and female sexual hormones (20 : 1). 5. In the group given gon a dotropic hormone, the MPS level fairly increased during administration, and gradually decreased after cessation of the drug. The effect of hormones was larger in the order of HCG, PMS and Gonasteron. 6. During administration of ACTH, the MPS level tended to elevate. The increasing rate of MPS was larger than that of mucoprotein. No significant change was observed with administration of hydrocorticosterone. 7. In the group giv e n prolactin, the MPS content showed either some increase or no change. 8. No significant alteration on MPS content was seen following administration of thyroid hormone or antithyroid drug. 9. MPS content in p r ostatic fluid of castrated dog showed a prompt decrease, and a replacement therapy with male sexual hormone resulted a returning of MPS content, although the dosage of around 10 mg did not make a rise about the control level.
