尿路感染症に対するスペクチノマイシンの使用経験

Abstract

A new antibiotic, Spectinomycin (SPE), was administered to patients with urinary tract infections. The results obtained are summarized as follows. 1) Blood level : Blood concetration of SPE showed th e peak level at one hour after intramuscular injection of 800 mg, which was 5.83 mcg/ml as the maximum, with a subsequent gradual decrease until at twelve hours when only trace level, 0.18 mcg/ml, was found. 2) Urinary excretion : The total amount of urinary excretion of SPE up to 12 hours after intramuscular injection of 800 mg SPE was 564.69 mg with the recovery rate being 70.5 %. 3 ) Clinical effectiveness : SPE was administered to 17 patients with various urinary infections. Excellent, good and poor results were obtained in 9, 5 and 3 cases respectively, showing effectiveness 82.3 % (14 cases). SPE was particularly beneficial in 11 cases of acute urinary infections with the effectiveness being 100 %. 4) Side effects : No. noticeable side effect was observe d in all of the cases treated.
