dc.description.abstractDetermination of urinary hydroxy-proline was carried out by means of Prockop and Udenfriend's method in patients with urolithiasis. In 5 out of 75 cases of urolithiasis, daily excretion of urinary hydroxy-proline was found to be elevated. Out of these 5 cases, 2 had hyperparathyrodism and another 2 had confined to prolonged bed rest due to bone fracture, so that these 4 cases showed more or less decalcification of the bones. The remaining 1 case showed no picture of decalcification and the cause of excessive excretion of hydroxy-proline was obscure. These results indicated that determination of urinary hydroxy-proline is useful in screening the case of metabolic abnormalities of the bones among urolithiasis.en
